how long does dog poop take to decompose?
Dogs have a reputation for doing their business everywhere but in the trash can, and for being messy eaters. And it turns out that their poop is just as sloppy. In a study published by the journal Science of the Total Environment, 85 percent of US dog owners reported leaving their dog’s droppings at some location outside — and studies show that dogs produce half as much poop per day as humans do. The problem is that most of this waste doesn’t decay and decompose like human waste; rather, it lingers on landfills or city streets until it becomes litter or ends up in waterways.
